Retro Islands
Place tiles and earn points according to the tile scoring rules. The two tile options change randomly each turn and you can switch between them by scrolling, using the A/D keys, arrow keys, or the 1/2 keys. Tiles score immediately upon placement!
Full list of tile scoring and rules:
- Flats: +2 points, +1 for each adjacent Flats
- Hills: +12 if at least 5 adjacent tiles
- Forest: +2 for each adjacent Forest
- Civic center: +5 if on Hills, -5 if on Forest. +2 for each adjacent building
- Farm: +5 if on Flats, +3 for each adjacent Civic Center
- Trade Center: +3 for each adjacent terrain type, including ocean
- Prophet: +15 if on Civic Center, -5 for each adjacent Scientist
- Artist: +10 if on building in Hills, +1 for each adjacent tile type
- Scientist: +8 if on Trade Center, +10 for each adjacent Scientist
Building tiles won't be available unless there are at least 10 unbuilt on terrain tiles. Civilian tiles wont be available unless there are at least 3 unpopulated building tiles.
I made this game in about a week with the aim of learning how to make simple games. It was WAY harder than I expected so it's very janky, apologies. Maybe it'll entertain you for a few minutes?
The project was made in Godot 4, and the pixel art was made with Pixilart. The music is by my talented brother and the font is from John Watson's Gravity Font Pack. Inspired by actual amazing games including Carcassonne, Cartographers, Dorfromantik, Islanders and Tiny Islands. Go try those!

Reminds me planning districts around city in Civilization VI for various bonuses.
The art is nice, the text is hardly readable though.
